When The Philadelphia Orchestra celebrated its 100th birthday in 2000, its current members decided that, instead of receiving gifts, they should give a gift to the people of Philadelphia who had continued to support the orchestra. They brought back free Neighborhood Concerts, a series of concerts that allows the orchestra to meet its fans face to face and to reach new audiences.

The Philadelphia Orchestra Concert and Fireworks on the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing will unfold on Friday, June 30th from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Head to the RiverStage at the Great Plaza for the free fresh-air concert, then stick around at Penn's Landing for a fireworks display over the Delaware River when the concert comes to a close.
